DETAILS OF THE STUDY
In The Spirit disciple training is a 3 year curriculum designed to understand how to emulate the life of Christ through the yielding to His Holy Spirit. The first year is designed to establish the foundations of our Christian faith and how to grow in the fullness of God’s Spirit. The second year’s focus is how to walk abundantly in the Spirit. The third year of the course is designed to identify and train yielded disciples to minister effectively to this world. Upon completion of the three years and each year’s assignments, a not-to-be-missed retreat is held to bless and exhort each graduating student. Many graduates will say this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and an abundant blessing because of the many ways God touches each heart.
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CLASSES
Women’s day and evening classes are available while men’s classes are available in the evening. These classes meet once a week for 2 hours with a time of worship, lesson, and prayer. The class calendar follows a traditional school year calendar September through April with major holidays observed.
REMOTE CLASSES
For those who live outside of Houston, we offer a “remote” study plan. Remote students are assigned to a class in the fall and can listen to the lessons “live” via Zoom. If the class times are not opportune, a remote student may listen to the weekly audios once they are available on the website. An SMI alum will act as the student’s prayer facilitator and encourager while the student works through the lesson audios and homework. The facilitator will be able to answer questions the student may have.
TEEN CLASSES
Teen Classes are available for guys, as well as girls with a shortened, 3 semester curriculum. This is open to teens from the ages of 13-18. Classes begin in January and meet weekly during the traditional school year. All the major holidays are observed. There is a minimum homework requirement. Upon completion of the 3 semesters and assigned homework, a retreat is also held for these students which many have said has had an everlasting impact on their lives.
